Lavash Bread or Tandori Roti

March 30, 2008,By Navid

While Lavash is the traditional Iranian bread, Tandoori roti is the traditional Indian bread. These two breads are very similar and the techniques to bake them are almost the same. They both would normally be baked in Tanoor (Farsi) or Tandoor (Hindi) which is a clay oven, heated with wood. The only obvious difference between them is that Lavash is usually made from white flour while roti is made from whole wheat flour. This means that roti will be a little bit darker than Lavash. This recipe is my homemade version of Lavash. My added touch is the brushing with butter which makes it a little bit more crispy while gives it more flavor.

Three Berry Mousse

March 25, 2008,By Navid

This is one of my favorite berry desserts. It takes some time to prepare , but it is certainly worth it. You can use any combination of berries here or even replace them all with one kind of berry.

Mixed Berry Tart

March 25, 2008,By Navid

Just combine any berries with whipped cream and you will have a delicious dessert. For this dish, you can use a mixture of raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and gooseberries. Sprinkle over with more icing sugar if you are using gooseberries because they usually are less sweeter than the other berries.

Appetizer Platter

March 25, 2008,By Navid

Whether you call it an appetizer platter, a starter dish or even an Antipasto Italiano, it's an excellent party platter. It is usually served before the main course but certainly can be consumed as a light supper as well. You can replace these suggested ingredient with other Italian products from the specialty stores.

Pan Fried Fish with Dill Rice

March 19, 2008,By Navid

The fish with dill rice (sabzi polo) has been a classic dish of the Persian new year (norooz) for many years. This recipe is a twist on this classic dish by adding the refreshing dill sauce. The dill sauce has a cooling effect which will complement the fish and rice flavor.

Walnut Almond Cake

March 18, 2008,By Bahar

Very tasty and delicious cake. I've found the recipe on a Persian cooking web-log (monnom.blogfa.com) ---many thanks to the owner of the web-log--- and modified it very slightly. It is a definite hit for baklava lovers and a great substitute for baklava if you happen not to have phyllo pastry on hand to bake baklava. I used almonds and walnuts in this recipe but you can replace them with any nuts of your choice. You can decorate the cake as you wish with slivered or powdered nuts and/or coconut flakes.

Roast Beef Sandwich

March 17, 2008,By Sara

A tasty sandwich for lunch or as a light dinner which can even be made from leftover meat. Roast beef goes well with the blue cheese sauce but you can try it with any of your favorite dressing too. You can also use ciabatta bread for this recipe as well.

Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk

March 17, 2008,By Bahar

Tasty and delicious curry. Not too spicy, but spicy enough to taste like a true curry. An easy dish that you can cook in only about half an hour. I found the recipe on food-network Canada when I was looking for a recipe that uses coconut milk and doesn't need too many fancy ingredients, and there it was. Enjoy.

Blueberry Mascarpone Tart

March 13, 2008,By Navid

This recipe is very versatile and and no matter how you change it, it always taste delicious and refreshing. For this recipe, a Mascarpone and blueberry combination works well. But you can also replace them with your desired filling and a different berry. Lemon cream filling with raspberry would be another good combination. You can also replace the crust with the ready to use puff pastry.

Strawberry and Raspberry Mousse Cake

March 4, 2008,By Navid

This is a very nice romantic dessert for two. Just drizzle over with some sweet aged balsamic vinegar and it will be mind blowing. The cream stabilizer would add more structure to the cake and make it more solid.
